On 7 June 2010, the Association of the Councils of State and Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions of the European Union (ACA-Europe) held its biannual colloquium in Luxembourg, chaired by the President of the Administrative Court of Luxembourg, Mr Georges Ravarani.
Mrs Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the European Commission, opened the colloquium, stressing the importance of administrative justice in Europe and spotlighting the major challenges in terms of guaranteeing European citizens access to justice and ensuring that the respective courts function smoothly.
This 22nd colloquium was held in the Curia, the building that is the seat of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Entitled “Preventing backlog in administrative justice”, the colloquium dwelt on the full and proper dispensation of administrative justice.
The report led to fruitful exchanges and discussions between the participants, based on questions drawn up by the ACA-Europe President Georges Ravarani, who chaired the proceedings.
